Liam Gallagher paid an emotional tribute to Aretha Franklin yesterday, describing the late icon as having “the best voice in the universe”.
Speaking onstage during his headline performance at Chelmsford’s Rize Festival, Gallagher dedicated Oasis-classic ‘Live Forever’ to the singer, whilst earlier in the set he also performed his Beady Eye track ‘Soul Love’ against a backdrop of iconic Aretha imagery.
Liam has become the latest in a long-line of big-name artists who have outpoured their love for Franklin, who passed away from pancreatic cancer on Thursday. Tributes have come from the likes of Alicia Keys, Elton John and Lauryn Hill, whilst Ariana Grande used her appearance on The Tonight Show to dedicate her heartfelt cover of ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ to the star.
