Drake has been confirmed to close this year’s Wireless Festival following days of speculation.
Announced moments ago, Drake’s appointment follows earlier news of DJ Khaled pulling out of the Finsbury Park event, citing ‘travel issues’; Wireless organisers had instead confirmed that they were “working on something special”.
Drake’s return to the Wireless Festival stage comes three years after his 2015 appearance, where he welcomed Skepta as a surprise guest to perform ‘Shutdown’. Meanwhile his appointment follows a hectic week which saw his fifth studio album ‘Scorpion’ break streaming records globally. Yesterday the Canadian rapper also continued to show his love for the UK, sharing his Behind Barz freestyle for LinkUp TV.
Throughout the day, particularly in the hour prior to him gracing the stage, backstage images started to circulate which added further fuel to fire, including Capital Xtra’s Tim Westwood sharing a reminiscent shot with Drake himself.
