Though Kygo’s Cloud 9 debut was up there as a solid first stab at a full-lengther, the Norweigian’s plus-point has always been his strength in remixing, and today he continues that theme by sharing his surprise rework of The Weeknd and Daft Punk’s Starboy.
Unveiled in the early hours, Kygo delivers an edit which remarkably steers away from his signature ‘tropical house’ sonics; instead keeping close to the original, albeit with a slight electronic ‘nip and tuck’ throughout (particularly around the chorus).
Starboy has never been a song which felt necessary of a remix, however Kygo’s trickery works well enough here for us to welcome a subtle rework into the spin. Grab a listen below:
