Newcomer Alyss has shared the hauntingly-groovy T S I E R, ahead of next month’s release of her Motherland EP.
An acronym for This Shit Isn’t Even Real, the track follows a busy emergence for the young classically-trained musician, having recently collaborated with MJ Cole and SG Lewis on various side-projects, whilst the song itself has been heavily influenced from the artist’s interest in Shamanic and spiritual teachings – “I’d been studying shaman teachings around that time and there was one principle that I couldn’t get out my head: dreams are real and reality is a dream. Both are equally as real as they are hallucination” says Alyss, adding “The more I dissected the concept, the more it tripped me out. In a good way. It’s mad how such simple words have completely changed how I view existence. I guess making T S I E R was like an audible screenshot of that perspective shift”.
Alyss has already been confirmed to appear at Pitchfork’s Music Festival in Paris, with London dates also teased too. In the meantime, grab a listen to T S I E R in full below; Motherland drops on 28th October:
