Kanye speaks of TIDAL / Apple Music feud: “Let the kids have the music”

Kanye West has spoken for the first time regarding Apple’s rivalry with his co-owned streaming service TIDAL.

Speaking on Twitter earlier today, Kanye said that “[this] Tidal Apple beef is fucking up the music game”, a clear sign of the differences between the two companies with both doing their best to secure varying exclusives.

As of the start of this month, Tidal now has 4.2 million paying subscribers against Apple Music’s 13 million. Both huge amounts of uniques though falling way short of main rival Spotify’s 30 million (recorded earlier this year).

Continuing his rant, Kanye also hinted of his desire for Apple to buy out TIDAL from owner Jay Z, calling for all owners and stakeholders to meet to discuss the future of streaming. “I need Tim Cook Jay Z Dez Jimmy Larry me and Drake Scooter on the phone or in a room this week!!!” said Yeezy, before adding “Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop tying to act like you Steve [Jobs]”.

A partnership would indeed make sense, and Kanye’s also in agreement, ruling that music should be the key opportunity for the world – “Fuck all this dick swinging contest. We all gon be dead in 100 Years. Let the kids have the music.”
