During a talk with Oxford University’s Oxford Union earlier this month, Michael Eavis spoke candidly about his world-famous Glastonbury Festival, from the event’s early-days all the way up to this year’s soiree.
Affirming the impact of grime into the modern landscape, Eavis announced that there would be a whole stage dedicated to the genre at Glastonbury 2016 (where on-site remains to be seen, mind, but the likelihood is it would be housed within Silver Hayes) – “we have a lot of people into Grime, so we have a whole stage dedicated to Grime” he said, adding “I’m not a fan myself but to each their own”.
During the one-hour talk, Eavis also discussed a rumoured special appearance by Beyonce (the singer will be in the UK for her Formation Tour across the Glastonbury weekend); stating that he wouldn’t comment on the rumours of Bey hitting the stage with Coldplay, but “there are better rumours than that going around”. He also applauded Beyonce’s recent politically-charged LEMONADE LP, citing that “if [Beyonce] wants to have a go at being political she should”.
