Glastonbury 2016: No Foo Fighters; all three headliners British bands

Both Michael and Emily Eavis have slip a few more details regarding this summer’s Glastonbury Festival, following their appearance at the NME Awards earlier this evening.

Speaking at the pre-show red carpet/photo-call, Emily was first-up with information, confirming that a second headliner announcement will be unveiled within the next fortnight.

This news follows yesterday’s confirmation of Coldplay taking the Sunday night headline spot.

Meanwhile, both Emily and Michael confirmed to METRO that the Foo Fighters will not be performing this year, as had been heavily-rumoured, alluding that all three headline slots will be taken up by British artists.

Michael told the newspaper that “[Glastonbury are] going to announce the full line-up in April and it’s the best line-up we’ve ever had. We’ve got Coldplay on the Sunday night, and even Jeff Lynne’s ELO. But Foo Fighters won’t be headlining this year, we’ve got three fantastic headliners but they aren’t one of them.”

Emily continued, adding “We’ve got three brilliant British bands headlining the festival”.

With confirmation of a British line-up of headliners, this will discount the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce and Guns N’ Roses, all of whom have been heavily rumoured. It’s likely bookies will start to close in on bets of Muse and Radiohead also making a return to the Pyramid Stage this June.

More as we hear it.
