Following multiple rumours, Coldplay have been confirmed to headline 2016’s Glastonbury Festival, closing the event on the final day.
The reveal, made moments ago, follows the band’s recently-announced 2016 world tour, which will also see them hit the dizzy heights of Wembley Stadium a week prior to Glastonbury on 16th & 18th June. The tour (plus their Glastonbury slot) will likely showcase new material from their latest studio record A Head Full of Dreams.
The band will become the first artists to headline Glastonbury on four occasions, following previous Pyramid Stage headline appearances in 2002, 2005 and 2011. Their 2011 set was later voted the Top Glastonbury Moment of the event’s long history by BBC Radio listeners.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2016 sold out in record time once again when they went on sale back in October; a further resale of ‘unwanted’ tickets is expected in the Spring.
