Following on last week’s audio premiere, M.I.A. has shared the official video for Borders, the second track listed off her upcoming fifth studio album Matahdatah.
As we’d expect from M.I.A. (an artist who’s never shy to speak her mind), the Borders visual is as impactful as the track itself. Featuring boatfuls of refugees (a matter in itself that’s likely to cause some kind of ‘should she/shouldn’t she’ speech), the video sees those striving to cross the border in search of a more positive life, be it by sea (in a boat created of refugees), or climbing electric-charged fences.
