Glastonbury 2016: Sunday teatime slot “a genuine surprise”

The coveted ‘Sunday teatime’ slot at next year’s Glastonbury Festival will be a “genuine surprise”, according to organiser Emily Eavis.

Speaking to BBC News earlier today, Emily gave further indications about the developments of 2016’s Glastonbury, adding that the Sunday set (which many rightfully perceive as almost ‘fourth headliner’ status) has only recently been booked. “The most recent confirmation was our Sunday teatime slot, which is something I’m personally very excited about” said Eavis, continuing “It’s a major coup for us and a genuine surprise. I don’t think anyone has rumoured or guessed this one.”

Whilst no word has yet been given about who will lead the pack at next year’s event, Emily also shared that when it comes to the headliners, “Two out of three are confirmed in writing and one is verbally confirmed”, adding “We are incredibly lucky to have such great headliners for next year, it couldn’t be any bigger.”

Meanwhile, Glastonbury 2016 returns to its Worthy Farm home next year, kicking off on 22nd June; all tickets are now sold however a resale period is expected to occur in the spring.
