Those keeping their ears close to the ground over the past year (or so) may have noticed that there’s some interesting crossovers happening of late, particularly with grime at its heart. No less to Slaves covering Skepta’s Shutdown (which still to this day, is remarkable), the darkened undertones of the genre seems to have transgressed to other elements of the music sphere, particularly on the mechanical-rock side.

Today, UK producer Son of Kick has debuted Gully, his new collaboration with Dabbla, and a track that seems to take the aforementioned fusion to next levels. Blending ‘electronic grime’ (that’s a genre now, btw) with slight undertones of metal rock, Gully may not be radio-friendly for the ‘Grimshaw kids’, but will undoubtedly find its way to more specialist shows (the track’s already received Beats 1 airplay courtesy of Anna Lunoe). The press release touted Gully as ‘lethal’, you’re likely to be in agreement from the first spin!
