Apple’s anticipated Beats 1 radio station launched earlier today, opened by former Radio 1 presenter Zane Lowe in what seemed an exciting moment for both new and existing listeners of Lowe’s previous exploits.
Amongst the tracklisting for the show came the world premiere of Pharrell Williams’ new single Freedom, a track teased during the Beats 1 / Apple Music announcement last month, and played over the weekend during Pharrell’s Glastonbury debut. Described by Lowe as “one record that means more to us than any other”, Freedom seems the ‘sequel’ to his 2013 smash Happy, and thanks to its stunning gospel undertones, we wouldn’t be surprised if the track continued the success of the aforementioned.
One hour on from its Beats 1 debut, Freedom then dropped on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, cited as her new ‘Hottest Record In The World’; catch the full audio below:
