Following last night’s announcement of Foo Fighters’ headline slot cancellation, Florence and the Machine have been confirmed to close the first night of Glastonbury 2015.
Announced via Glastonbury’s official twitter account moments ago, Florence and her band will take to the coveted Pyramid Stage – themselves originally set as the warm-up act for the Foo Fighters.
Speaking of the new appointment, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis said “Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”
Meanwhile, following the announcement, the Foo Fighters tweeted their seal of approval to Florence:
