Following the critical acclaim of his new album To Pimp A Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar has debuted the official video for his new single King Kunta.

Premiered in Times Square earlier this evening, the visual for the funky track (whose apparent leak was the reason for To Pimp A Butterfly‘s early release), was filmed in Lamar’s hometown of Compton, and seems a throwback to the glory G-funk era from the mid 90s.

With the album’s full-on craziness (and complexities), it made sense for the more ‘radio-friendly’ King Kunta to become the latest cut from the project; as one of the record’s standout tracks, the quality behind the production is a perfect introduction to the rest of the collection.
