Earlier today, Dermot O’Leary announced he will leave The X Factor UK, a hosting role he’s played for the past eight seasons.

Set to be part of Simon Cowell’s much-rumoured shake-up of the show following a decline in TV ratings, O’Leary confirmed the news earlier today on Twitter, saying “After eight wonderful years on @TheXFactor it’s time for me to move on. I’d like to thank ITV, Simon, The X Factor family and particularly the viewers, all of whom have been a big part of my life for so long”, continuing “I’d like to wish the team all the best for the future, especially whoever takes over from me”.

Whilst the rumour-mill has been quick to suggest who may be taking over the hosting duties, The Sun’s Head of Showbiz Dan Wootton has exclusively announced that previous The Xtra Factor presenters Olly Murs and Caroline Flack will lead the charge.

Rumours are still ongoing regarding 2015’s The X Factor judging panel, with many suggesting Louis Walsh may also be amongst Cowell’s axe in a bid to bring ratings up to their peak in the mid-2000s.

The full story regarding the duo’s return to The X Factor will be featured in tomorrow’s edition of The Sun.
