Back in 2010, US heavyweight P Diddy decided to throw his support on Skepta, surprising but also exciting the British grime scene – fast forwarding almost half-a-decade, and 2015 has seen the scene once again receive nods from our international counterparts, primarily Drake, and as of last week, Kanye West.
In celebration, Skepta has unveiled Shutdown, a track that was finished less than 24-hours ago (you can hear the fresh samples of news clips regarding the MC’s appearance at Kanye’s BRIT Awards performance last week, for starters). Lifted from his upcoming album #Konnichiwa, Skepta’s also thrown the nod back to Drizzy, sampling his own “truss mi daddi” line, and in-return, Drake’s taken to Instagram to once-again throw his support!
Take a listen to Shutdown in full following Drake’s ‘virtual high-five’ to Skepta, below. One thing’s for sure, it’s an exciting time for the UK grime scene, full-stop!
