Admittedly, we do feel rather concerned anytime we hear that someone has remixed Lapsley; her purity is part of the quintessential beauty of her music and sometimes even a solid producer can forget the essence of a song. Fortunately however, JackLNDN has kept strong to the roots in his new remix of Lapsley’s Falling Short (the opener of her debut XL Records EP, Understudy).
Adding a subtle house spin across the track (almost touching on disco in its approach), JackLNDN’s edit is a fine addition to his ever-growing repertoire (which includes a sublime take on George Maple’s Talk Talk toward the back-end of last year).
