Whilst last summer’s remix of Wookie & Eliza Doolittle’s The Hype 2.0 still fills us with absolute squeals of excitement, admittedly it’s all been fairly quiet on the Motez front in recent months.
However, that’s now all changed, following the Australian producer dropping his surprise edit of Sam Smith’s Leave Your Lover earlier this morning.
Featuring some smart harnessing of Smith’s exquisite voice, plus encapsulated by a deep (yet ironically-sprightly) beat, Motez works wonders with his revisit of the song (in its original guise, one of the standouts of Sam Smith’s brilliant debut record In The Lonely Hour). Whilst the emotiveness of the original stood impeccably heartfelt and strong, Motez completely flips things around and turns the ballad into a set-ready jam. If this is what we’re expected to look forward to from both Motez, plus the house genre in its entirety for 2015, then we can’t wait to hear what else the year has in store.
