By all accounts, Jimmy Napes should have a far higher social-following than his 4,000-odd Twitter followers suggests. Responsible for some of the UK’s most solid output in recent years, including writing and production credits on over half of Sam Smith’s astonishingly-successful debut In The Lonely Hour, (alongside Smith and Disclosure’s now-iconic Latch, amongst many many many others), perhaps Napes’ hectic schedule has been the reason why his own solo work has taken so long to come to fruition.

However, like many who want to start the new year off on the right foot, so has Napes, premiering his debut single Give It Up, the first fruit from his forthcoming The Making of Me EP.

Debuted by Zane Lowe earlier this evening, Give It Up is a wondrous affair, offering some sublime takes on silky lo-fi-esque future house. Consider Latch vs Bondax’s Something Good, and you could probably be fairly close to the sound of Give It Up – evenmoreso as Something Good receives production credits from Disclosure’s Howard Lawrence. Chilled, and cool-as-fuck and you’re now on the money.

Essentially, we’re loving this; but then again, with the quality of production and writing Napes has been pushing over the past couple of years, we weren’t to doubt.

Take a listen to the smooth Give It Up below; the track lands alongside The Making of Me on 8th March – hit the iTunes link for the preorder:
