Following the unveiling of the Shift K3Y-produced title-track back in November, Londoner Leo Kalyan has unveiled his Stranger mixtape in full.
Showcasing both his vocals alongside his production abilities, the 20-minute project (premiered earlier this afternoon by DIY) is as beautiful in parts as it is haunting. With some thought-provoking remixes (Faith Evans’ Love Like This a stunning highlight), Kalyan also offers his own take on Charli XCX’s Boom Clap…. as the aforementioned DIY say, a version that’s “dripping with cool”, and we couldn’t agree more.
“The Stranger mixtape began as a purely creative experiment” says Kalyan, working with various influences in its creation. “By the time I finished, though, I decided to share it with people in order to show the different sides of what i do as a producer, singer and songwriter. Most of all, it’s just a playful glimpse into my musical imagination….I’d say it hints at what’s to come, but you never know – I like the element of surprise.”
