Whilst we’re still umming and aahing as to whether the Lost Files tracklisting leak a couple of weeks back was actually geniune, a source close to Rihanna and her label have given a heavy hint that a new record will indeed land before 2014 ends.

Tentatively titled R8 (well, that’s if Lost Files turns out to be fake, which is more than likely), the new album could see Rihanna trying to take advantage of Q4, usually a time of the year where the market is flooded by compilation albums for the Christmas buyers.

Speaking earlier this week to Dash Radio in the US, DJ Skee said of the new collection that “the project is a lot closer than anyone realized, including her own record label. Last weekend in New York City, she took a couple Def Jam executives to a top secret location and played ten new records. So, that means she’s trying to put out a project to capitalize off the fourth quarter craziness.”

Skee also mentioned that “I’ve Been Searching For Something To Ignite Me” could also act as the new album’s lead single.

More on Rihanna’s upcoming releases as we hear it.
