After being rumoured around for the past couple of weeks, Aretha Franklin’s cover of Adele’s huge hit Rolling In The Deep has been unveiled, as it’s as much ‘Aretha meets Adele’ as you could probably think.
Taken from Franklin’s upcoming covers album Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics, the arrangement is pretty much in-keeping with the original (whether that’s a good thing or not, we’ll let you decide), however all comes into its own toward the middle-8, where Franklin brings along a sample of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, essentially showing how worthy she is as one of the greatest singers of all time.
Anyhow, stream Aretha’s cover of Rolling In The Deep below; Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics lands on 20th October (preorder via the iTunes link below), and will also see covers of classics by Etta James (At Last), The Supremes (You Keep Me Hangin On), Chaka Khan (I’m Every Woman) and more
