Young 17-year old Lapsley is fast-becoming one of our favourite sensations to emerge from the British scene over the past 12 months – her dazzling Station is still on rotation here at our offices, whilst her unique blend of sweet harmonies alongside some serious vocal manipulations is one that still is yet to be artistically rivalled.
With Annie Mac helping Lapsley’s successful path to emergence from the offset (it was Station’s feature on Mac’s ‘Musical Hot Water Bottle’ show that made people sit up and take notice), it’s no wonder the musician’s new release, Falling Short, was given to Annie as an exclusive premiere on her show last night.
Continuing the same winning formula of ambient/lo-fi tones, whilst also ‘tricking’ the listener into thinking there’s more than one vocal on the track (there isn’t by the way, it’s all Lapsley), Falling Short will feature on the forthcoming Annie Mac Presents compilation as well on a soon to be announced new EP from Lapsley due for release later in the year.
