Breaking news: Jason Orange quits Take That

Take That member Jason Orange has confirmed he has quit the British group, following toying with the idea for almost two years.

Set to be broken exclusively tomorrow by The Sun, Orange’s departure from the band comes as the band prepare to record their upcoming new album. Take That will continue as a three-piece after Robbie Williams recently confirmed he would not reunite with his old bandmates for the new record.

In a statement, Orange said “I want to start by saying how proud I am of what we have achieved together over the years. However, at a band meeting last week I confirmed to Mark, Gary and Howard that I do not wish to commit to recording and promoting a new album…..I have spent some of the best years of my life with Take That and I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey, including my bandmates, who I feel are like brothers to me.”

“Most especially my gratitude goes to all of the good and kind, beautiful and ever-loyal fans of the band, without whom none of this could have been possible. Thank you.”.

Explaining his full departure, Orange continued “At the end of The Progress Tour I began to question whether it might be the right time for me to not continue on with Take That. At the start of this year and with my full knowledge and blessing the guys began writing new material.”

Take That shot back to global prominence after reuniting in 2006 with Beautiful World; following albums The Circus (2008) and Progress (2010) led to their reunion winning over a host of new fans, and becoming one of the biggest bands, once again, in the UK. Whilst the band will continue as a three-piece, it’s unlikely how many of their now-mature fanbase will see them as a full group, however this remains to be seen.

Take That’s upcoming record was expected to land toward the end of 2014/early 2015 – whether the project will be put on hold or not has yet to be confirmed.
