It’s been rumoured for over a decade, and at times quoted as the ‘most anticipated album of all time’, but Dr Dre has confirmed that his eagerly-awaited Detox, the follow-up to 2001, is no longer on the cards.
Never fear though, there is still a rumoured project on the horizon, it just won’t take the Detox name. Aftermath Records producer Dawaun Parker confirmed on the ‘Shots Fired’ podcast that “He [Dr Dre] scrapped Detox a couple of years ago and came up with another title…. I won’t say what the title is cos I haven’t seen that online or anything yet.”
Dr Dre has apparently worked on a large amount of beats for the new project (cited close to 300), however Parker also confirmed that Dre wouldn’t let anything be recorded into a song unless the beat is “a 10”.
Watch the full reveal below; Detox may no longer be happening, but there’s still a likely project on the way. When though, we have no idea.
