The first fruits of Mary J Blige’s upcoming album The London Sessions have been unveiled, by new single Right Now.
Produced by Disclosure, and co-written with Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, Right Now hears the first time the British duo have collaborated with the Soul Queen since she jumped on their F For You earlier in the summer, and hears Mary J’s striking vocal across Disclosure’s now-signature beats. In fact, it seems Right Now marks the next-wave of Disclosure, showing some signs of maturity, and therefore showcasing the flexibility Guy and Howard have to tailor their sound depending on the vocalist – a feat that’s more difficult than one could probably imagine.
Right Now received its world-premiere earlier this evening by Annie Mac on her Radio 1 show, with Mary J Blige opening up candidly regarding the new record, describing London as one of the key cities that seems to be pushing the boundaries of modern-day music.
Amongst the other contributors to The London Sessions (which is set for a November release), include Naughty Boy, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and more.
Stream Right Now below; an official release date is yet to be confirmed.
