Following the death of iconic house producer Frankie Knuckles earlier in the week, German vocalist Billie Ray Martin has posted 5 tracks she recorded with Knuckles alongside the rest of her Electribe 101 family.
For those unaware, Electribe 101 were a British-based house outfit from the late 1980s/early 1990, disbanding after the release of just one studio album. The unreleased tracks, available as a free download, were all produced by Knuckles yet unfortunately never saw the light of day.
Writing on her Soundcloud page, Billie Ray Martin said “In honour of the beautiful work Frankie did for us, and for me, this set shows his soulfulness so well. To me the basslines are killer. I was never keen on my vocal performance but hey…you learn as you go along. I don’t think these were ever released, so hopefully you’ll enjoy these. Thanks Frankie Knuckles”.
Stream the full tracks below, all of which server as a strong reminder as to the sheer strength of Frankie Knuckles as a house music pioneer.
