Macy Gray has previewed her forthcoming album The Way, by unveiling promotional track Stoned, the first cut from the new LP.
The track, which gives a wonderful, calming reminder of Gray’s dulcet tones feels almost Zero 7 at times; more an enchanting, near-breakbeat backing over lyrics that err on the US legalisation of marijuana. By ways of that, the video (which apparently isn’t final, more of a ‘viral’ piece), runs through various celebrities and figure-heads over the years, all publicly acquainted with smoking one form or another.
