According to reports in today’s Daily Mirror, Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has agreed a deal for Prince to headline the final night of this year’s festival.
Currently surprising fans with a series of secret gigs throughout London (and later this week, Manchester), a source close to the Daily Mirror said “They [Eavis & Prince] met in London and a deal was struck. The reaction towards Prince during his time in the capital has been immense and it cemented his desire to play at Glastonbury. He is determined to raise the bar and give a set to remember. There will be a few surprises in store.”
We cannot stress at this time that these rumours are so far completely unconfirmed by anyone close to Prince & 3RDEYEGIRL, however if true, the Purple One will join Arcade Fire as the only other confirmed headline act for the iconic June festival.
*UPDATE* Prince’s manager Kiran Sharma has gone on Twitter to quash the rumours as false:
NOT TRUE: Squelching this rumour…Again! Sigh… "@3am: Prince to headline Glastonbury…
