According to reports from US newspaper Wall Street Journal, award-winning director & actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment. He was 46.
Known for his standout work in classics including Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski and The Talented Mr. Ripley, Hoffman’s impact within the Hollywood movie scene as both an actor and director will mean a great loss to many.
The Wall Street Journal report that the NYPD are currently investigating Hoffman’s death to determine the exact cause, however the NY Post lay claim Hoffman’s death may be down to an apparent drug overdose (after reportedly “checking himself into rehab last year for heroin abuse”).
Sources close to Sky News seem to validate the suspected overdose suspicions, saying: “[Hoffman] was found dead in his bathroom with a syringe in his arm, according to law enforcement sources.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, two officials said small envelopes they suspect contained heroin were found in the New York apartment. They said the bags were marked with the ace of hearts and spades.”
More as we hear it…
