Of what initially seemed like a mild dig at Justin Bieber may have turned into a national US event after an online petition calling to deport the Canadian popstar has reached over 130,000 signatures.

The White House and US administration must respond to any petition that exceeds 100,000 signatures, and with the ‘Deport Justin Bieber’ cry increasing rapidly, it may well be up to President Obama’s team to start taking the ‘situation’ seriously and revoke the teenager’s green card eligibility for US residence.

The petition, which launched as a response to Bieber’s reckless ways over the past fortnight (including drink-driving and drag-racing), states “We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.”

At the time of writing, the petition had reached over 136,000 responses, and is climbing rapidly. Head over to the official White House Petition website to have a look for yourself.

**UPDATE** The petition now reads over 225,000 signatures as of 31st January 2014
