The Wanted’s Max George opens up on split: “Over the past year there has been a lot of tension”

Following the shock news earlier this week that British boyband The Wanted are to split after the conclusion of their forthcoming tour, group member Max George has spoken out regarding the infighting and arguments that have led to the five-piece’s breakup.

Speaking to The Sun’s Head of Showbiz Dan Wootton in an exclusive interview, George tells of the internal drifting that had led to the “brotherly pact” disintegrating, commenting that “over the past year there has been a lot of tension”.

In the interview, the singer also confirmed that a clear divide had taken place in the band, particularly after both himself and member Nathan Sykes were the only two out of the five that to been already signed as soloists. “It shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone. As upsetting as it might be to some of the other guys, I have to live my life. Nathan and I haven’t broken any promises either because we’re both going to be on the tour”, George says, continuing “We also haven’t said we feel we can achieve more than anyone else. I’m guessing that some people might think that, but me and Nathan have been just as loyal to this project as anyone else. Sometimes you just have to be realistic.”

Head over to The Sun now for the full story on the band’s feuds, rivalry and jealousy over other members’ partners.
