Beyonce’s new album sells its one millionth copy

**UPDATE** 24th December – Beyonce’s new album has officially sold 1m copies in the US alone, make it earn Platinum status. The album is only the third this year to reach that milestone within its first sales fortnight (after Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience and Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories).

Beyonce’s latest self-titled effort has sold its one millionth copy, in less than one week on sale, label Columbia has confirmed.

The label announced that the one millionth sale took place yesterday on iTunes. The album is exclusively available on the online Apple store until tomorrow, when physical copies will be made available.

The album has set records less than one week on sale, and is on course to hit one million downloads in its first seven days – a massive feat considering there was not one ounce of promotion.

Beyonce is set to return to the UK next year as part of a refreshed leg of her Mrs Carter World Tour; tickets are still available here from SeeTickets. Full dates below:
