Former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins sentenced to 35 years for child sex offences

Former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been sentenced to 35 years in jail following the star pleading guilty to thirteen child sex offences.

Watkins appeared at Cardiff Crown Court last month, whilst the sentence was carried out today; the 35 years will see Watkins spend 29 years of the sentence inside jail, whilst the remaining six will be on license.

Watkins pleaded not guilty to rape of a child under thirteen but admitted that it was attempted. According to the BBC, the star also admitted to conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.

On providing the sentence, the judge said Watkins had a “corrupting influence”, showing a “complete lack of remorse”
