One of the finding female, and pioneering artistes of experimental urban music, Kelis, has signed to Ninja Tune, the label have announced, bringing her forthcoming anticipated album Food along for a 28th April release.
The album, her first official studio recording since 2010’s Flesh Tone, is said to be a ‘soul record that’s as raw and alternative as it is classic’.
Speaking of the new signing, Kelis said “I’m really happy to be partnering with Ninja Tune on my new record. This is the album I’ve wanted to make for a long time and I want the team around me to be as excited and energetic about it as I am. I’m also very happy to be working with some of the most creative people in the industry.”
In September, the singer unveiled a new track, Been Given A Morning; it’s unknown at this stage as to whether the track will be included on the new LP.
