Earlier today, the final 120,000 tickets to 2014’s Glastonbury Festival were fiercely fought over by over 1.5m people, selling out in a record 87 minutes.
Whilst the lineup of the festival, which has played hosts to some of the world’s biggest artists in its 43-year history, is yet to have been announced; this did not stop eager fans taking to the web and phone in a frenzy this morning.
In a statement after the sell-out, organisers of the legendary event Michael Eavis and daughter Emily, said “We have, once again, been blown away by the numbers of people who were hoping to join us at the festival, and we’re sorry that many of you have missed out on a ticket. We genuinely try to make the ticket system as fair as it can be, but when demand outstrips supply, it is an unfortunate inevitability that some people will be left disappointed.”
Anger was rife on Twitter just after the 9am launch, after a SeeTickets error left thousands without the opportunity to even go to a holding page.
