Mis-teeq rumoured for possible reunion tour and new album

For those who recall the ‘golden days’ of R&B and garage in the early 2000s will fondly remember Mis-teeq, the fourpiece urban girlband who burst on the scene with mid-tempo ballad Why in 2000. With original member Zena McNally parting ways soon after release, the three founding members were given a lifeline by garage producer Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont, whose fresh take on Why catapulted the girls into the charts and opened the path to the infamous garage/R&B crossover.

Following the success of Why , the girls familiarised themselves with a multitude of current producers, including Sunship and Blacksmith. Next single All I Want led the way to a string of Top-10s, whilst success followed with One Night Stand and Scandalous until the group acrimoniously split in 2006.

With both Sabrina Washington and Alesha Dixon dipping their toes into solo careers (with Dixon moving into prime-time television presenting), Sue-Elise Nash moved to Sydney, Australia to start a new life in the sun.

Anyhow, moving into 2013, it seems the three girls are ready to regroup again. According to The Sun’s TV Biz column,

An insider said Alesha was up for relaunching her pop career with the girls. The source told TV Biz: “Alesha is definitely keen. The Big Reunion has shown there is still a massive appetite for old bands getting back together.”

And Su-Elise says the trio have already discussed a possible reunion this summer and that they want to record a new album and go on tour.
Speaking on Choice FM, Su-Elise said: “I have been speaking to Alesha and Sabrina. We have been having three-way Skype sessions to discuss just that. We are discussing at the moment the logistics of it and seeing what is out there in terms of new record deals and stuff like that.

“Should the right thing come along, we’re definitely up for doing a reunion tour — and maybe doing another Mis-Teeq album.”

Exciting times, these girls were COOL AS! Fingers crossed the rumours are true!!
