Throughout the self-directed video, the rapper provides a rap more emotionally outpouring than a song itself via a completely lifelike doll alter-ego. The over 4-minute video focuses on Tyler doing his best to grab the attention of a mute female doll who fails to reciprocate his advances (hence IFHY’s abbreviation of ‘I Fucking Hate You’).
All week, the rapper has been tweeting about the premiere of the clip (with Pharrell providing vocals though unshown onscreen), and the results epitomise the strength of the artist’s creativity – not just from a spoken-word point of view, but clearly visually now too.
