British pop band Girls Aloud have taken to social media to announce that they have now officially split. The band, who were originally founded over 10 years ago after winning TV reality show contest ‘Popstars: The Rivals’, were on a hiatus as of 2009, however regrouped toward the end of 2012 to perform a set of concerts to mark their 10 year anniversary.
Speaking on Twitter just after midnight, the girls said:
Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together . Love you lots.
The announcement was made shortly after their final show together last night at the Liverpool Echo Arena.
