Tomorrow will mark the 16th anniversary of the devastating shooting of Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka Notorious BIG.
To ‘mark’ this occasion, legendary hip-hop radio presenter Tim Westwood has released unseen rare footage of Biggie Smalls performing with Puff Daddy at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 1995.
We’ve all watched Biggie videos since his passing, but hearing something unreleased is bordering on special. Hearing him spitting bars makes you realise what a loss his death was to the hip-hop world – he makes it sound so flawless.
The performance, from the launch party of Westwood joining Radio 1, unites Big Poppa with his close friend Puff Daddy, and the pair run through some of the most memorable songs from ‘Ready to Die’. These two really did know how to do a live performance.
