UK Garage heads rejoice. Afraid of missing out on the #YearOfTheComeback moniker that’s been rejoicing music fans so far this year, British garage duo DJ Luck & MC Neat have revealed their new track ‘Lighting Fires’.
The duo are well known for making the garage genre turn mainstream with oustanding tracks at the turn of the century, releasing debut ‘A Little Bit of Luck’ in 1999.
Their sample of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Masterblaster (Jammin) on ‘Masterblaster 2000’ showed that there could be a positive fusion of underground music with soulful vocals and led the way to groups such as Mis-teeq to become more prominent in the charts.
I have to say, I was at first sceptical when I heard about a new track, but this is superb. With a 2-step beat akin to the garage-days of old, I’m really hoping that this succeeds in relaunching UKG back into the hearts and minds of the [now] 30-something garage-heads.
