English singer/songwriter Dido, best known for her award-winning albums White Flag and Life For Rent, unveiled a new dance-inspired track today off her forthcoming album ‘Girl Who Got Away’.
‘Blackbird’ is the second track from the aforementioned long-play (due to be released March 4th) and is her first album since 2008’s ‘Safe Trip Home’.
Known for her mellow/folk-style of music, this is a big departure for the 41-year old; whether the industry is ready to hear Dido featuring on a dancier-beat remains to be seen though. Upon first play I was fairly underwhelmed, however listening on things start to get interesting. It has a fairly ‘fresh’ feel and wouldn’t feel out of place from a Hed Kandi Beach House album.
