Live Nation move their London concerts to Olympic Park

Born In Sound has learnt this morning that concert promoter Live Nation has secured the Olympic Park to host their next wave of summer festivals.

AEG recently secured the contract to stage summer events in Hyde Park for the 5 years so this seems like a natural progression for the Live Nation brand.

Last summer’s Hyde Park concerts were showered in controversy, when Paul McCartney’s duet with Bruce Springsteen was cut short and microphones turned off due to the concert overrunning. Likewise, complaints soared during Blur’s Olympic Closing gig where sound levels were hardly concert-worthy.

The first concerts at the Olympic Park have been confirmed as Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Callling.

London Mayor, Boris Johnson, said “The confidence now shown by one of the world’s leading live entertainment promoters to relocate two of its biggest music festivals from the centre of the capital is a ringing endorsement of our legacy plans. Along with the other major international sports events we have already secured this latest news proves that the park has a very bright future indeed.”
