Morcheeba, Little Dragon, Martha Reeves and more confirmed for Secret Garden Party 2014

Organisers of the annual Secret Garden Party UK festival have confirmed the first wave of artists set to appear.

So far, Little Dragon, Fat Freddys Drop, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Deap Vally, Morcheeba and Jagwar Ma have been confirmed to join Clean Bandit, Max Raabe and Palast Orchester, Fat White Family, Dub Pistols, Southern, Champs, Honeyblood, The Correspondents, Bat and Ball and MT at the event, which takes place in Cambridgeshire 24th-27th July 2014.

London Grammar took to Radio 1’s Live Lounge this afternoon (12th December), as part of their promotion for stunning new single Nightcall, taken from their sensational debut album If You Wait, however the trio (including vocalist Hannah Reid, complete with a cold) also put their unique spin on Miley Cyrus’ hit Wrecking Ball.

The fact that Hannah can sing with such empowerment and sincerity whilst ill proves how good the group are when they’re all fit and healthy.

The track, taken from the dance duo’s latest studio LP Brand New Machine and featuring the sublime vocals of Jacob Banks, is completely turned on its head with this remix, with a progressive bass hook that’ll drill itself inside your head; vastly different to some of the Todd Edwards material we’ve become accustomed to in the past.

Easily one of the biggest, and most-anticipated urban mixtapes of the year, The Abstract & The Dragon, has been unveiled in full.

The album, a collaboration between two of hip-hop’s finest rappers, Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip, have already been preceded by monster single Thank You (ft Kanye West), along with yesterday’s Butch & Sundance, and whilst we’re yet to listen to The Abstract & The Dragon in full, everything sounds promising so far based on the two previous cuts.

Sam Smith wins 2014 Critics Choice BRIT Award

Sam Smith has been named the 2014 Critics Choice winner for next year’s BRIT Awards.

Smith, who was announced as a nominee last week along with Chloe Howl and Ella Eyre has had an immensely strong year, particularly over the summer when his Naughty Boy-duet La La La topped the charts.

Damon Albarn announces first solo album

Damon Albarn has turned to YouTube to announce his first ever solo album, set for release next year.

The album, comes as somewhat as a surprise after fans had pinned hopes on 2014 being the year of either new music from his Gorillaz band, or Blur, of which Albarn first found fame.

Either way, new Damon Albarn music is a strong proposition indeed; take a watch of the video below:
