Glastonbury Festival 2022 ticket resale dates announced

0

Glastonbury Festival organisers have given a glimmer of hope to those who were unsuccessful securing entry back in 2019, confirming dates of the 2022 ticket resale.

The number of tickets available is currently unknown – this amount will be set following the closure of the ticket balance payment window which will take place from 1-7 March. After that date, all attentions will be turned onto the likely stampede which will follow. Ticket resales for coach packages will take place on Thursday 24th March, whilst general admission resales will follow three days later on Sunday 27th March. As always, anyone who wishes to attend and apply for tickets must be pre-registered.

The 2022 Glastonbury Festival will take place from 22nd-26th June, and will see Billie Eilish become the youngest ever headliner of the festival when she takes charge of the top-spot on Friday 24th June. The other two Pyramid Stage headliners are currently still TBC, however high rumours point to Sir Paul McCartney (Saturday) and Kendrick Lamar to close on Sunday 26th. Diana Ross will be the 2022 ‘tea-time legend’, following confirmation late last year.

With less than 5 months to go until Worthy Farm opens its gates following a two-year absence, Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed Little Simz as the latest name to be added to the 2022 roster.

Announced during her chat with Radio 1’s Clara Amfo last night (2nd February), Eavis confirmed that Simz will be headlining the West Holts Stage – a coveted role that’s hugely-deserved following the release of last year’s brilliant ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’.

Elsewhere on the lineup – which also includes Friday night headliner Billie Eilish and Sunday ‘legend’ Diana Ross, Courtney Barnett has self-confirmed her appearance for June 26th as part of her upcoming European tour.

More news as we hear it – Glastonbury Festival 2022 runs between 22-26th June.

Diana Ross confirmed to play Glastonbury Festival’s ‘Legend’ slot in 2022

0

Glastonbury’s Emily Eavis has announced Diana Ross will take to the Pyramid Stage when the festival returns in 2022. Set to play the coveted ‘Legends Slot’ on Sunday 26th June, Ross re-confirmed her attendance for next year, following the cancellation of her 2020 performance after the festival was forced to postpone due to the global Covid-19 outbreak.

Announced via Emily’s Twitter and Instagram account, the festival curator, and daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, said “I’m thrilled to be able to let you know that the magnificent @DianaRoss is coming to play at @glastonbury next summer. We were so excited to book such a legend for Glastonbury 2020 and are so happy that she’s the first to re-confirm for next year.”

Often seen as Glastonbury’s ‘unofficial fourth headliner’, previous Sunday afternoon performers have included the likes of Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Tony Bennett and Dame Shirley Bassey. Glastonbury 2022 will return to its Worthy Farm home on 24-26 June.

Lorde announces 2022 Solar Power tour

Lorde has shared more details of her upcoming third studio album ‘Solar Power’, following the title-track’s release last week.

Set to land on 20th August, the 12-song project, which follows on from 2017’s ‘Melodrama’, will also see the singer hit the road for a wealth of global shows in 2022. Opening in Christchurch, NZ in February, the intimate tour (Lorde promises “Theatres and green fields rather than arenas”) will also see the Kiwi native travel the globe – first Australia (and of course New Zealand), followed by the US and then into Europe in the summer.

UK-wise, Lorde will play 6 dates from late-May into early-June, and then head into mainland Europe. The tour will conclude in Berlin on June 23rd (which coincides nicely into being in the continent just in time for Glastonbury).

Check the full UK schedule below; tickets go onsale Thursday 24th June. You can also watch the ‘Solar Power’ video underneath:

Aerosmith may have become the first act to self-confirm their appearance at next summer’s Glastonbury Festival.

As all eyes fall on what’s happening with 2022’s festival following the cancellation of this year’s event, the band’s 2022 tour dates have been updated to show they’ll be gracing Worthy Farm on Saturday, 25th June. The appearance will fall part of the band’s UK leg of their world tour, which will also see them play in London, Manchester and Sheffield.

Aerosmith had previously been earmarked to play a show at 2020’s Glastonbury, before the whole festival was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic.

The next Glastonbury Festival will run from 22nd-26th June 2022. More news as we hear it.
