Secret Solstice 2017: Full line-up announced

Foo Fighters and the Prodigy are amongst the line-up of 2017’s Secret Solstice, organisers have confirmed.

Set to run from 16-18 June, Iceland’s largest festival will also see Richard Ashcroft among the rest of the headliners, whilst appearances from Dusky, Novelist and Kerri Chandler have also been announced.

Alongside the aforementioned, Secret Solstice 2017 will also play home to a large array of dance takeovers, from the likes of Circoloco and Anjunadeep, whilst Artwork, Novelist and Klose One have also confirmed too.

Pete Tong’s ‘Ibiza Classics’ to return for another run in December 2017

Following sold-out shows in London, Manchester and Birmingham last week, Pete Tong has announced the return of his live Ibiza Classics show, hitting various venues next December.

Set to kick off on 13th December 2017 at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro, Tong will once again join forces with Jules Buckley’s 65-piece Heritage Orchestra, and travel down to Manchester (14th December), and return to London’s O2 Arena for two shows on 15th & 16th December.

Tickets go on public sale this coming Friday (9th December) direct from Ticketmaster, with a presale two days prior (Weds 7th December). Hit the link below for more info – you can relive all the action from last Thursday’s O2 show underneath:

Listen: Drake – ‘Talk Is Cheap’ (ft. Aaliyah & Static Major)

A track intended for Drake and 40’s posthumous album for Aaliyah has leaked online. Originally thought to be part of Drizzy’s upcoming More Life project (though quickly denied), Talk Is Cheap delivers one of the finest Drake cuts we’ve heard in years – think back to ‘early-Driz’ and you get the picture.

Featuring Static Major, alongside unreleased Aaliyah vocals, the track is as slick as they come. The full project, initially due for release in early 2014, was shelved some 18 months after it was initially announced back in 2012, with co-producer 40 saying “The world reacted to Drake’s involvement so negatively, I just wanted nothing to do with it. . . Ultimately, I wasn’t comfortable and didn’t like the stigma.” Aaliyah’s family also quickly removed their association from the album too.

Emeli Sande announces October 2017 arena tour

Emeli Sande has announced her first ever full-length arena tour following the success of her recent studio album Long Live The Angels.

Set to kick off on 14th October in Aberdeen, the Breathing Underwater performer will then travel across the country to the likes of London, Newcastle and Manchester, before concluding on 25th October 2017 at Birmingham’s Genting Arena.

J. Cole has shared a 40-minute documentary ahead of next week’s release of his surprise new album 4 Your Eyez Only.

Released on TIDAL (don’t worry, it’s also available for non-subscribers too), the doc follows Cole since his last studio outing, 2014’s hugely-successful Forest Hills Drive. “You’re never guaranteed to be this high again” says Cole sincerely, adding “So while I’m here, let me use this opportunity to say the realest shit I’ve ever said.”

Watch Skepta’s entire Alexandra Palace show live as it happens

Skepta plays a sold-out show at London’s Alexandra Palace tonight, and if you were unlucky to grab a ticket first-off, you can watch the entire performance live and direct from your living room!

Back last month, Skep sold out all 10,000 tickets within a matter of minutes, however the Tottenham boy’s teamed up with Apple Music to live-stream the show for free across the globe.

Speaking to Beats 1 ahead of the performance, Skepta said “That show is going to be one of the best shows in my world, all the shows in the world that I loved, all the people that have come up when I was watching them, all rappers that thought, yeah man the message, everything they’re saying, everything, the way that’s going to come together from the message to the visuals to the place where it is, that’s going to be one of the best shows in my world of all time.”

Coachella 2017: Radiohead, Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar to headline?

According to reports, Radiohead, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar are set to be the headline acts for 2017’s Coachella in California.

Prevously-rumoured back in the summer, Beyonce’s appointment is near-enough confirmed, alongside Kendrick, across both weekends next July. Coachella will also mark Radiohead’s continually-updating headline stints across the globe too, alongside leading the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night at next year’s Glastonbury. It will also mark their third time headlining Coachella, whilst 2017 will see both Beyonce and K.Dot perform for the first time.

Sources close to Consequence of Sound has pretty much confirmed the rumours too (as an FYI, CoS are pretty-much spot on with their sources so we’d have reason to believe this comes with good knowledge).

More as we hear it – you can expect more Coachella news to start appearing over the coming weeks, in line with previous years.

Fabric will reopen on 6th January

Following a four month closure that left the music world worrying for the potential loss of one of its most iconic clubs, London’s Fabric has announced it will reopen on 6th January, in what the club is calling “a cherished moment in our history”.

The news comes not long after last month’s successful renegotiation of its license, with the reopening weekend set to feature “a host of unannounced special guests from our history and our future”.

Alongside the rest of the secret lineup, Fabric have confirmed the return of residents Jacob Husley and Peter Pixzel, alongside Craig Richards and Terry Francis.

In a press release, Fabric’s owners said:

“It’s pretty much impossible for us to put a measure on just how much gratitude we are feeling right now to be able to announce our reopening proper,” the club said in a statement today. “We’ve said it before and we will keep on saying it—you are all to thank for this. The credit for this is shared among hundreds of thousands of petition signers, letter writers, donors, t-shirt bearers, artists, party promoters and more than we can ever recount. A community of people from the world over who came together and continued the principal of unity that was central to the foundation of our culture—to save us….. Now it’s about what’s ahead of us. We’re looking ahead to filling our disco with our family of artists and club heads alike, with our soundsystems including our new Pioneer Pro Audio Room Two set up pushing out mesmeric high level sound. This is what it has always been about.”
