Video: DORJ – ‘Thunder’

If you’re a fan of Glass Animals, you’d might like to spend your time absorbing into the world of Israeli producer DORJ who’s just shared the new video for his latest single, Thunder.

Lifted off his upcoming Hipnotized EP, Thunder hears a melancholy fusion of futuretronic soul overlayed with Years and Years-esque experimental vocals, with the Tel Aviv-based musician describing the optimistic track as “An exploration of a person’s wills and desires, and the elements that drive our motivations in our daily lives”.

Citadel 2017: Line-up announced

London’s Citadel will return for a third year later this summer, with a packed line-up that surpasses even some of the more-established festivals out there.

Set to hit Victoria Park on Sunday 16th July, this year’s event will see Bonobo join the already-announced Foals, alongside the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, Ry X and Laura Marling. US musician Maggie Rogers will also be making her Citadel debut among additional names including Wild Beasts, Dan Croll and Jake Isaac.

Having spent time previously carving music for others (Ray BLK, Stormzy), young producer Courage now looks to break a name for himself, and has delivered a brand new track to celebrate.

Songbirds (which comes by way of a kaleidoscopic visual, below), is Courage’s first release on Rinse, and sets the bar high as one to watch in the UK’s continually-evolving house scene. We need to give props early on to this one – we wouldn’t be surprised to hear the track wiping the floor during Carnival season (and clubland) later this summer.

Lily Allen confirms summer 2017 album release date

Lily Allen was the latest guest on comedy podcast News Roast earlier today, where she joined satirists Heydon Prowse & Jolyon Rubinstein to discuss a wealth of topics currently affecting today’s society.

After opening the discussion with her views on how the internet (and namely social media) has changed since she sprung to prominence back in 2005/6, Lily then delivered her opinions across topics ranging from Brexit to the state of the NHS all the way to womens’ rights and more. We’ve often mooted Lily as a strong spokesperson for today’s youth, so this is definitely compelling listening.

Oh, and just before the close, she also teases a hopeful June release date for her anticipated fourth studio album too.

Gorillaz announce comeback show at their own festival

Gorillaz have announced their first UK show in seven years, alongside their own festival at Margate’s Dreamland.

The one-day event which will be headlined by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s crew, will land in Kent for one day on 10th June, and will span three stages – Albarn and Hewlett will curate the line-up which is yet to be revealed.

An all-new Gorillaz album is also in the mix, with Damon recently telling a fan that the project was complete and they were currently rehearsing for the live circuit – whilst it’s yet to be confirmed whether Dreamland will be their first live show of the year, it’s pretty likely it will be the biggest and most extravagant.

Jamiroquai announce O2 Arena headline show

Jamiroquai have announced a trio of UK shows ahead of the release of their new album Automaton later this month.

Kicking off on 24th June at London’s O2 Arena (which times nicely with Glastonbury, don’t you think?), Jamiroquai will then head to Boardmasters in August before hitting Manchester and Birmingham in November. With such a break between summer and winter shows, we also wouldn’t be surprised if more dates were announced in due course.

**UPDATE: Due to overwhelming demand, Jamiroquai have now announced a second O2 Arena show**

On Friday, Lido released a remix edition of his 2016 debut album Everything. Featuring nine reworks in total (from the likes of Dan Farber all the way to Alison Wonderland), it’s Minnesota’s stunning reimagination of So Cold that tips the scale of brilliance across the whole project. It’s a fun, glitch-heavy piece which fully delivers on Lido’s jarring complexities whilst also being able to stand on its own two feet as a piece of vivid imaginability by itself.
