0

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez have been confirmed as the 2020 halftime performers for Super Bowl LIV.

Set to take place in Miami next February, the announcement came by way from both artists’ twitter accounts, appearing alongside the Pepsi Logo with the caption “Going to set the world on 🔥🔥🔥”.

“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl” said JLo in a press statement – “And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”

And that’s not all either – it seems more stars will join Shakira and Lopez, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeting earlier that “other performers [are] also expected to be added to the show.”

The three-day festival which will take place on 12-14 June, will also see the likes of Deftones, Korn, Of Mice and Men, The Offspring and Disturbed among the first wave of acts set to grace Leicester’s Donington Park.

Iron Maiden’s appearance will mark one of only two UK festival shows next year for the iconic group; the band’s Bruce Dickinson says, “Next year we will play a number of countries and cities we have yet to visit on this incredible tour, so it is terrific to be able to accept the invitation to return to Download in 2020 and we will certainly go to town and add a few extra items to the show. This will be our seventh time headlining at Donington Park. It’s home turf and we all really enjoy playing this Festival, the vibe from the crowd is always fantastic.”

Meanwhile, Kiss’ show will mark a UK exclusive for the group whose mark on the scene spans over 45 years to-date. “I’ve said it before, Download Festival audiences are the best” says Gene Simmons – “They are up for whatever is thrown at them. Here, the record’s title track gets the deep-house treatment from Hot Chip co-founder Joe Goddard. Preditah’s latest single ‘Animals’ has been making waves in the clubs over the last few weeks, and now the highly sought-after Birmingham based producer has added an extra oomph to the track with his new ‘VIP mix’. Targeted straight for the dancefloor, the producer’s new edit layers deeper than deep, old school house-edged beats into the mix here, which subtle sax riffs propping up long builds that slowly drop away into a groove-infused soundscape.
