XL Recordings’ Richard Russell details debut ‘Everything Is Recorded’ album

XL Recordings cofounder Richard Russell has detailed his anticipated debut album as his collaborative Everything Is Recorded moniker.

Set for release in February, the project will feature contributions from the likes of Sampha, Syd, Ibeyi, Damon Albarn and more. We’ve already heard the excellent ‘Show Love’ (a collaboration between Syd and Sampha), and today comes the album’s second except, ‘Bloodshot Red Eyes’, which features Green Gartside and Ghostface Killah’s son, Infinite.

Ed Sheeran announces engagement to Cherry Seaborn

Ed Sheeran has announced his engagement to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn.

Revealing the news on Instagram, Ed confirmed the proposal took place before the clock ticked into 2018 – “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”

Sheeran has always been notoriously private about his personal life, particularly showing concern about bringing Seaborn into the public limelight; however Ed recently revealed that having Cherry by his side helped him avoid a downward spiral during his year sabbatical from the music world in 2016.

Joey Bada$$ has put his own spin on Prince’s ‘When Doves Cry’ for Triple J’s Like A Version segment.

Coming almost two years since the Purple One’s untimely death, the new interpretation, titled ‘When Thugs Cry’, hears Joey rework the classic track, switching lyrics to “Maybe I’m just like my brother, he’s never satisfied. Why do we shoot at each other? This is what it sounds like when thugs cry.”

Hearing Joey deliver more soulful rap is great; long may it continue. Watch the full rendition below:

Drake has surprise-released new music to kick-start 2018.

Sharing his first taste of material since last year’s ‘More Life‘ playlist, his two new songs – ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ fall under the guise of ‘Scary Hours’.

Essentially it’s touted as a two-track EP, but the focus should probably be on the songs themselves. With Drake spending the past few months in Toronto working away on a new studio album, we wouldn’t be surprised if ‘Scary Hours’ could be the kickstarter for even more new music.

Kim and Kanye’s third child named Chicago West

Following the recent announcement of the safe arrival of their third child, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have revealed their daughter’s name…. Chicago West.

The baby, born to a surrogate on Monday, will join 4-year-old North and 2-year-old Saint as the youngest West sibling. Revealing the news on Tuesday, Kim said by way of her app “Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” adding “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”

Kim announced the news of Chicago’s name on her socials moments ago; adding that they will be shortening the name to ‘Chi’.

Laced with an iconic sample from The Klubb Kids’ rare 1995 cut ‘House Anthem’, the track follows a solid 12 months for Eats Everything, which saw him hit up a residency on Radio 1, alongside seeing strong success with his previous single ‘LOUD’.

We’ve been keeping close attention to Model 86 for a while now, and whilst he’s been spending the last couple of years delivering solid cuts to his small (but faithful) fanbase, it seems now’s the time for him to break from under the radar with his excellent new single ‘FAMOUS’.

The song hears vocal duties courtesy of newcomer Rayon Nelson (another ‘one to watch’), and the chops are simply like nothing we’ve heard before.

After dropping one of our favourite albums last year with his long-awaited debut record ‘9’, Cashmere Cat has returned, enlisting Major Lazer and Tory Lanez for ‘Miss You’.

As you’d expect with all three appearing on one track, this one’s pretty spectacular; it’s got that Major Lazer dancehall-tinge, but it’s Tory’s vocals that really sets this one apart.

Chris Evans closed the week with a wealth of guests on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show this morning (19th January).

Alongside Tom Kerridge and Kirstie Allsopp, George Ezra and Jessie Ware were welcomed from a music standpoint; the former providing the world’s first play of his new single ‘Paradise’, with Jessie herself taking centre-stage performing songs from her third studio album ‘Glasshouse’.

Opening with ‘Alone’, the Londoner then dropped off ‘Your Domino’ plus covers of Sam Cooke’s ‘You Send Me’ and Womack & Womack’s classic ‘Teardrops’.
