Listen: Mega shares her enchanting debut single ‘Chariot’

In a world where hundreds of tracks land in our inbox almost daily, it’s often rare to find one that, even as a debut, is so instantly-enchanting that you’re left pining for more. These moments come incredibly rare, however fortunately one of those moments crept out the woodwork this week, when North London-based Mega delivered us her beautiful new single ‘Chariot’.

Spanning influences from the likes of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse (with definite similarities to Erykah Badu and India Aria thrown in for good measure), the richness of the song cannot be understated. It’s distinctive enough that, on this track alone, Mega could craft out a huge fanbase, and we simply can’t wait to hear what’s next. Grab a listen below:

Liverpudlian singer/songwriter Jetta has shared her new soulful pop-laced new single ‘Fool’.

Lifted from her upcoming EP (‘Fool’ is the third of four new songs on the project), Jetta speaks about her inspiration behind the song – “I’ve always been inspired by the Indie movement” she says – “I’m from Liverpool so you can imagine all the guitar bands I grew up listening to. I started with a massively distorted guitar sound and then just layered/experimented until I was happy – in this case it turned into an electro-funk Motown mashup. The theme of the song was basically ‘I thought I could fix you’… I didn’t wanna feel it too much though, that’s why the production became more uplifting, even though the sentiment is the opposite.”

Stream Ben Khan’s long-awaited self-titled debut album

It’s been a long-time-coming, but Ben Khan’s long-awaited foray into album-mode has finally arrived.

His self-titled debut effort, announced with his surprise return back in April, delivers everything you’d want from the elusive artist – it’s essentially a synth-heavy electro-pop compendium; no features, but that has never mattered with Khan. He’s seemingly crafted a sub-genre all to himself over the years, and whilst ‘Youth‘ may have been the focus of post-3am sonics at the launch of his career four years back, this 15-track project brings Ben’s sound straight into supporting an entire evening.

Sure it’s going to be tricky to pinpoint anything that’s going to be ‘more radio-friendly’, but that’s not the point here – the frantic ‘monsoon daydream’ (we’re all lower-case with this album btw) is striking on its own accord, whilst ‘waterfall’ is the head-nodder that’d perfectly support any comedown or Sunday hangover.

Khan’s debut may not set the sales-charts alight (unfortunately), but streaming numbers should help to keep it to the forefront for many. We’d absolutely recommend giving this one a go – listen below:

Wafia shares her excellent new single ‘I’m Good’

Young Australian singer/songwriter Wafia has released her first piece of new music since January’s ‘Only Love’, with one of the boldest pop songs of the year.

Titled ‘I’m Good’, the track delivers a striking flip on post-break-up odes, bringing out the positivity of the closure of a relationship. “I was in a place where I knew when something was going to end” the singer tells Australian station Triple J – “What is the song I’d want to hear after the worst of it is done?’ That’s what I came up with”.

Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Post Malone & more to perform at 2018 MTV VMAs

Nicki Minaj has been added to the line-up of the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, confirmed to hit the stage within days after dropping her long-awaited fourth album, ‘Queen’.

Set to return to the VMA stage for the seventh time since 2010, Minaj will join an ever-growing list of performers for this year’s ceremony, which include the likes of Travis Scott, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes and Logic. Jennifer Lopez, who becomes the 2018 recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, will also be performing.

More announcements are expected to follow over the coming days so stay locked; meanwhile ‘Queen’ has now been confirmed to arrive on 17th August. Check the VMA teaser announcement below:

It’s been more than a minute since we’ve heard anything fresh from Kiesza – her blowaway 2014 hit ‘Hideaway’ still absolutely nails it, and earlier last year we hoped ‘Dearly Beloved‘ would cement that return to the music world with her second album.

However that follow-up to 2014’s ‘Sound Of A Woman’ failed to materialise; today though here’s hoping she’ll be bouncing back thanks to her long-awaited new single ‘Phantom Of The Dance Floor’.

Hear Elderbrook’s new single ‘Capricorn’

Just over a year back, Elderbrook joined forces with production duo CamelPhat to release ‘Cola‘. At the time merely dubbed “a cool little club record”, the song helped catapult both acts from the underground straight into the charts the world-over, earning nods at both the 2018 Grammy Awards and Ivor Norvellos, and earning a fan out of Noel Gallagher in the process.

12 months on, the Londoner dropped ‘Sleepwalking‘, which marked his first piece of new music after signing to Parlophone, and today he follows up the song with another new track, ‘Capricorn’.

Once again featuring the producer’s whispered lyrics across an intoxicating twisted beat, the song comes ahead of his anticipated (and long-awaited) debut album, which lands early next year. It also received the acclaim as being Annie Mac’s latest Hottest Record on her BBC Radio 1 show, so you know you’re in safe hands there.

Currently prepping a new mixtape (which ‘Pretty Girl’ is likely to feature), the song times well for this month’s Notting Hill Carnival, courtesy of its carnival-laced production. “It was sick working with Tiggs Da Author and creating ‘Pretty Girl’ with him, it’s 100% a summer jam.” says Steff.

As Bondax gear up for the release of their anticipated debut album ‘Revolve’, the Manchester-based duo have tapped up good friend Fono to hop on the remix of June’s lead single, ‘Real Thing’.

Featuring vocals courtesy of Andreya Triana (who of late has become the go-to for house-laced / soulful productions), Fono’s edit perfectly pushes the understated track firmly into captivating dancefloor territories. Get hyped for this one, we see no reason why it won’t be massive.
